Vintage Satsuma Vase from Japan

Vintage Satsuma Vase from Japan

Satsuma porcelain is Japanese pottery originating from the Satsuma province.

Ivory-colored Satsuma pieces are well-known Japanese export products, decorated to appeal to Western tastes. Export began in the 19th century. The original Satsuma, made from dark clay, dates back to the 17th century.

This vase is significantly newer, possibly from the 1980s. Just a guess.

Dimensions: height 26 cm, width approximately 11 cm, and mouth opening 5 cm.

In excellent condition.
